El Vista Force Main Replacement

The El Vista Force Main Replacement project addressed recurring failures in the City’s existing 12-inch cast iron force main, which had experienced multiple breaks, including a significant sanitary sewer leak. To restore reliability and prevent future disruptions, the City prioritized the removal and replacement of the deteriorating pipeline. The project scope included replacing 8,256 linear feet of 12-inch cast iron force main with a more durable 16-inch high-density polyethylene (HDPE) force main. The work also involved replacing discharge header piping inside the lift station and constructing a permanent bypass pumping manifold, providing operational flexibility to maintain service during pump maintenance or downtime.

Construction challenges included confined easements across private property, a congested city right-of-way, and an alignment adjacent to an LNVA (Lower Neches Valley Authority) freshwater canal, requiring careful coordination and construction practices to minimize impacts. Despite these challenges, the project was delivered smoothly without change orders or unforeseen issues. Through careful planning, effective coordination, and efficient execution, the El Vista Force Main Replacement significantly improved system reliability while maintaining uninterrupted service to residents and businesses.
