Easement Surveys for Orange County Drainage District

AWC was contracted by the Orange County Drainage District (OCDD) to formalize access to vital drainage infrastructure on private property in west Vidor, Texas. For decades, OCDD maintained key ditches across approximately 600 acres under verbal agreements with property owners, but changing ownership and the need for legal clarity prompted the district to convert these informal agreements into recorded easements. AWC’s surveying team collected detailed topographic information along the drainage corridors, navigating remote and often waterlogged terrain to gather cross-sectional data, including the top and toe of ditches and estimated maintenance areas for equipment access. Field data was translated into detailed CAD drawings with proposed easement widths tailored to each cross-section, then formatted into legal exhibits for review by OCDD’s legal counsel and presentation to landowners. Easement lengths varied, with some exceeding 13,000 linear feet. By securing long-term, written access to critical infrastructure, AWC supported OCDD in protecting public investment and private property from future drainage issues, demonstrating coordination, precision, and perseverance in the field.
