Subsidence monitoring and benchmark survey for Cheniere LNG facility, Cameron Parish.

AWC provided surveying services for subsidence monitoring at the Cheniere LNG Facility in Cameron Parish, Louisiana. With settlement concerns affecting the plant’s structural stability, AWC established a long-term monitoring system over a three-year period to track ground movement and inform preventative measures. Approximately 675 custom-fabricated brass benchmark monuments were installed at designated locations throughout the facility, each securely placed with cement or epoxy and precisely labeled for identification. Using high-accuracy leveling techniques, AWC recorded horizontal and vertical positions based on Cheniere’s plant datum, creating a reliable baseline for future monitoring. Follow-up surveys were conducted to measure elevation changes over time, providing Cheniere with a clear picture of differential settlement across the site and enabling timely interventions and infrastructure adjustments as needed.
