Topographic survey and drainage design for 80-acre laydown yard redevelopment.

The Cheniere 80-Acre Laydown Yard project entailed the conversion of an 80-acre expanse of underutilized land into a functional laydown yard capable of accommodating equipment for future projects. The site’s marshy terrain and inadequate drainage posed significant challenges, necessitating innovative solutions. Using drone-based LiDAR technology, AWC conducted precise topographic surveys, capturing detailed ground elevations and contours. This data informed the strategic regrading of the terrain, optimizing drainage and usability.
A key aspect of the project was the design and implementation of a multi-quadrant system with interconnected ditch networks. This system efficiently channels stormwater from the southern portion of the property to the northeastern outfall, effectively resolving drainage issues and enhancing the yard’s functionality. By leveraging existing soil and employing strategic engineering practices, the once underutilized land was transformed into a functional asset ready to support future endeavors.
