Civil Engineer – Port Arthur, Texas

  • Job Description

    We are searching for a motivated Texas licensed Professional Civil Engineer with experience and expertise in land development, public works, and industrial markets to continue the growth of our Port Arthur, Texas facility.

  • Responsibilities

    • Develop, execute, and manage complex civil engineering projects.
    • Serve as a technical design expert.
    • Perform conceptual designs.
    • Prepare construction plans and specifications.
    • Provide support during construction and other field assignments.
    • Perform other required duties as assigned.
    • Direct a design team to meet project goals.
  • Requirements

    • Texas-licensed professional engineer (P.E.) or capable of obtaining Texas P.E. license within a reasonable time frame.
    • At least 5 years of civil engineering, public works, and land development experience. A candidate with a focus in road, water systems, and drainage system design and analysis is preferred.
    • Project management experience, including the development of project proposals, scopes, budgets and the successful execution and tracking of both small and large engineering projects.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Candidate will need to communicate clearly with clients and AWC associates.
    • Experience monitoring and controlling costs within own work.
    • Proven skills in design, and problem solving.
  • Technical Experiences

    • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Storm & Sanitary Analysis

Civil Engineering CADD Technician – Galveston, Texas

  • Job Description

    The AWC Civil Engineering CADD Technician/Designer works closely with the Project Manager, Project Engineer or other team members to effectively produce and provide engineering CADD support using AutoCAD and other software; addresses red-lines and/or assists as needed. This position will seek regular guidance to complete CADD work assignments. This is a regular, full-time, FLSA non-exempt position, subject to extended work hours, including evenings and weekends.

  • Essential Functions

    • Drafts and prepares engineering plans and exhibits from field data, sketches, drawings, raw data, diagrams and/or verbal/written instructions
    • Performs project redlines to complete quality plan drawings deliverable with some supervision
    • Prepares drawings from redlines, layouts, and verbal instructions
    • Maintains accuracy, quality, completeness and schedule on work assignments
    • Delivers engineering CADD production using current or appropriate CADD procedures, practices and standards
    • Is organized, detail-driven and thorough
    • Proficient in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
    • Performs project CADD tasks and assignments
    • Cross-trains with engineering and CADD staff
    • Monitors own individual work and evaluates self-performance
    • Assist other engineers and CADD staff in work production, as needed
    • Perform site visits
    • Assist with compliance, permits, inspections, surveys and other documentation
    • Independently calculate effects of many factors and produce comprehensive reports to inform design
  • Minimum Qualifications

    • Preferred five years of CADD experience in the civil engineering field
    • Proficient in AutoCAD and /or AutoCAD Civil 3D
    • Ability to produce and deliver quality engineering plans on budget and on schedule
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Must have good organizational skills and be able to work well in a team environment
    • Self-motivated and driven to succeed, even without consistent oversight

    • Ability to communicate effectively with project teams and understand basic civil engineering concepts
    • Analytic ability for handling technical details, such as using mathematical formulas, interpreting semi-complex ordinances and specifications, and analyzing design requirements

Engineering Administrative Assistant – Port Arthur, Texas

  • Job Description

    The AWC Engineering Administrative Assistant will work closely with Company Management and Engineers to provide help in maintaining schedules, assist in internal and external communications, and assist in industry specific technical documentation.

  • Essential Functions

    • Assists management in researching, establishing, and implementing engineering activities
    • Prepares letters, reports, and other communication for management
    • Maintain a work task system to improve flow of information, ensure activities are completed timely, and thus increase the efficiency of the company
    • Composes and edits correspondence from brief oral or written instructions for management signature, or signature without management review for routine correspondence
    • Reviews and/or edits documents from completeness, accuracy, format, compliance with policies and procedures, and appropriate English usage
    • Occasionally attend meetings in place of project manager, and be a point of contact for clients with ability to quickly supply clients’ needs or refer to the appropriate location or individual
    • Prepare project contract and specifications books
    • Aid with construction administration such as: preparing and reviewing bid items, reviewing contractor invoices and composing contract change orders
    • Ensure excellent customer service is being provided to new and existing clients
  • Minimum Qualifications

    • Minimum of 4 years’ experience as an administrative assistant. A college bachelor’s degree in business or related degree may be substituted in lieu of years of experience.
    • Preference is for a candidate who has experience in the Engineering Industry.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Thorough knowledge of administrative practices and procedures
    • Possess positive attitude and strong written and verbal communication skills, including English spelling, grammar and vocabulary
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Ability to type at a minimum of 50 wpm
    • Ability to learn industry terminology
    • Ability to recognize process improvement opportunities
    • Ability to evaluate and analyze administrative concerns, and determine alternative course of actions and present recommendations
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect information and documents appropriately
    • Ability to travel as required to meet face-to-face with customers
